Missions and Outreach

The Missions and Outreach Ministry at Christ Presbyterian Church strives to seek God, sow faith, and serve others all year long through our varied partnerships, events, and service opportunities. They meet on the second Tuesday of each month following worship. Outreach Opportunities
Serve Dinner at Kearney Center: Join us as we assist with serving dinner at the Kearney Center. Five to six volunteers are needed; youth 13 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

• Where: Kearney Center, 2650 Municipal Way, Tallahassee, FL
• When: Each first Sunday, 5:15-7 pm
• What to Expect: Don a hair net and an apron and get ready to serve up a hot meal! Jobs expected in this project include plating food, passing out plates or silverware, transporting dishes from the kitchen to the service line, clearing tables, and sharing God's love with all you meet.

Clothing and Household Item Donations: Clean out your closets for a good cause. Each month, we collect donations for a local thrift store or mission partner. Bring items to the church by 4:30 pm  on the first Sunday of the month to have them delivered.

• JANUARY and JULY - The Living Harvest (household items)
• FEBRUARY and AUGUST - The Kearney Center and HOPE Community (clothing and shoes for adults and children)
• MARCH and SEPTEMBER - ECHO Food Pantry (non-perishable foods)
• APRIL and OCTOBER - Lighthouse Home for Children (household items)
• MAY and NOVEMBER - Making Miracles Group Home (diapers, wipes, baby items)
• JUNE and DECEMBER - International Rescue Committee (toiletries, kitchen items, cleaning supplies)

Blessings Box: Our Blessings Box serves to provide non-perishable foods for our neighbors. All food is donated and available to anyone who needs it. Please feel free to add food to the box if you see it is empty, or bring food donations to the church office or pantry.

Holiday Family Adoption: We are thankful for the opportunity to serve a neighborhood family each year, identified by a local elementary school, who could use some extra TLC during the holidays. For Thanksgiving and Christmas, we all share in providing what is needed for a celebratory meal, and lovingly shop for items on their Christmas wish lists. Look for the Thanksgiving Turkey and Christmas Giving Tree in the Narthex for these opportunities.

Annual Christmas Mission Market: Each year in December, we fill the sanctuary with local, national, and international non-profit organizations who are seeking God, sowing faith, and serving others in the community and our world. Add in some live music, a scrumptious bake sale, and unique crafts and gift items, and "shop" for your loved ones by making donations in their name. We will even give you a card that can be presented to your recipient letting them know of your gift.

Westminster Gardens Outreach: For years, we have been in loving service to the residents of Westminster Gardens, a rental retirement community in the heart of Midtown Tallahassee. Our current project is a quarterly free produce market, and is in development. Stay tuned for more information coming soon.
