KIT SUPPLY LISTS

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Hygiene Kit in Ziplock Bags 
- to be distributed nationally by PC(USA)(Value $15, recommended $2 processing fee per kit)
  • 1 hand towel (approximately 16" x 28", no fingertip or bath towels)
  • 1 washcloth
  • 1 wide-tooth comb (remove from package)
  • 1 nail clipper (nail clippers with metal files or emery boards attached are accepted; remove from package)
  • 1 bar of soap (bath size in wrapper)
  • 1 toothbrush (in original packaging)
  • 10 Band-Aids® or other adhesive bandage strips
  • (Please add $2.00 processing fee to each kit)

Please do not add toothpaste to the Hygiene Kits. Toothpaste which has an extended expiration date will be added to international Hygiene Kit shipment.

School Supplies in Backpacks for Children
  • 1 pair of blunt scissors (rounded tip)
  • Three 70-count spiral notebooks or tape-bound pads of 8" x 10 1/2" ruled paper or pads with 200-210 sheets of ruled paper. (Do not include filler paper.)
  • One 30-centimeter ruler (12")
  • 1 hand-held pencil sharpener
  • 6  new pre-sharpened pencils with erasers
  • 1 large eraser
  • 1 box of 24 crayons

​The Backpack Project for Adults

The Backpack Project is a local effort to provide basic supplies to the homeless in Tallahassee. It was started by Amy Garvin Rodgers, daughter of CPC members: Bill and Suzanne Garvin, about 5 years ago. Please consider purchasing backpacks from Amazon (see link to preferred backpacks below) and filling them with a dental hygiene kit (toothbrush, toothpaste, and dental floss) along with anything else on the following donation list:

Personal hygiene items (travel size preferred):
  • Shampoo and/or conditioner
  • Comb
  • Body wash or bar soap
  • Lotion
  • Sunscreen
  • Deodorant
  • Q-tips
  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Tampons
  • Pads
  • Roll toilet paper
  • Moist toilet wipes
  • Antibacterial hand wipes
First aid items:
  • Band-aids
  • Alcohol swabs
  • Neosporin or other antibiotic cream
  • Individual packs of pain reliever
Non-perishable food items:
(high protein preferred to keep stomachs full, longer)
  • Granola bars
  • Peanut butter crackers
  • Peanut butter packets
  • Protein bars
  • Chips
  • Bottle of water
Clothing items: (new please)
  • Socks (one of the most needed and least donated items to the shelter)
  • Men white t-shirt, long sleeve or short, depending on time of year
  • Mens' size large underwear
  • Women's white t-shirt, long or short sleeve, depending on time of year
  • Women’s underwear, size 7(large)
  • Rain ponchos
  • Small fleece blankets for fall and winter packs
  • Backpacks! (only donate new backpacks please).
Miscellaneous:
  • Small flashlights with batteries
  • Cardboard nail file
  • Quart size ziplocks for me to pack toiletries in
  • Grocery store plastic bags. (good for people to put their trash in and not get their pack dirty).

The idea for the backpacks are to provide immediate relief to a homeless/needy member of our community. If you can think of something else that you would like to add, feel free. #leadwithlove #spreadthelove #sharethelove
