Worship and Music Ministry The focus of the Worship and Music Ministry is to aid the Pastor in a worship service that is both joyful and reverent, praising the Lord and giving thanks.
Ministry through music means different things to different people: to those who participate actively in music, it is a means of stewardship and expression of faith. To those who minister as pastors, the ministry of music represents a means of expression and edification of spiritual concepts. To those who participate as listeners and responders, the ministry of music becomes a means of expression of praise, thanksgiving, confession, gratitude, adoration and worship of God. The ministry of music at Christ Presbyterian of Tallahassee is an inclusive program, encompassing many musical styles and eras, all ages and abilities, speaking to and drawing from the musical heritage of the Presbyterian and ecumenical church. The ministry of music holds its long-standing heritage of excellence in music as a gift and a responsibility. At the core of the church is its worship of God, and through its many choral and instrumental ensembles, the ministry of music seeks to glorify God, to nurture God's people, and to reach out into the world. Under the leadership of director of music Jeffrey Benson, pianist Sharon Clark, and a host of gifted and committed volunteers, the music program at Christ Presbyterian is alive and active, with three singing choirs, a handbell choir, and an instrumental ensemble. Please join us! On the first Sunday of each month, the Sacrament of Communion is offered. Many volunteers help with the worship service; Ushers, Lay Worship Assistants, Communion Servers, Acolytes, Communion Table Guild, Audio System Technicians, and the Committee on Flowers and Special Decorations. "We learn more and in more depth about beauty, reverence, holiness, wonder, and awe in preparing and offering music for the worship of God than in any other endeavor." -Robert Shaw
