Christ Presbyterian Church

Christ Church is a congregation of the Presbytery of Florida, the Synod of the South Atlantic and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The Church was chartered on May 8, 1990 at the meeting of Florida Presbytery held in the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello, Florida. A Service of Organization was held on May 13, 1990, in the Fellowship Presbyterian Church of Tallahassee, Florida, where Charter Members were received and Elders elected. At a congregational meeting on June 3, 1990, Rev. Ashton Edwin Ayers, Jr., who served as Organizing Pastor was called as the full-time Pastor. After meeting in the Gilchrist Elementary School for a year and a half, the first worship service in the renovated Chapel on Bannerman Road was held on Sunday, July 1, 1990.

Mission Statement

"Our purpose is to glorify God and to enjoy and share the love shown through Jesus Christ by providing a place and atmosphere for worship, nurture, and outreach. Our call is one of worship and work, serving one another and community, teaching God's children, unified in Christ's body in a practical, visible, fellowship of genuine love and concern."

The above statement was the original mission statement of this new church development. Since the charter of this congregation in May of 1990, much growth and many changes have taken place. More details have been added through the sharing of needs and the commitment of service by those who have become part of the membership of what is known as "Christ Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)". Yet, in all of its growth and change, all of its challenges and "Growing Pains", its excitement and fulfillment of God's plan, the purpose of this congregation has remained clear.
